Despite the pandemic, the School Health and Nutrition Program of Pitogo District continuously advocates health habits among our learners, even at the confines of their homes. On the 21st of June 2021, DepEd Pitogo Health Section conducted Thanksgiving and Blessing of the School Dental Health Care Program (SDHCP) Clinic. It was made possible through the efforts of Leonor M. Briones, DepEd Secretary; Alain Del B. Pascua, Undesecretary for Administration; Dr. Maria Corazon C. Dumlao, Chief Supervising Health Officer – BLSS-SHD; Dr. Annie T. Araojo– Dentist III/ Regional Dentist Supervisor – RO4-ESSD; Dr. Pearl Oliveth Intia of the Regional Office; the Top Management: OIC-SDS Elias A. Alicaya Jr., EdD; OIC-ASDS Gregorio A. Co; OIC-ASDS Herbert D. Perez; and OIC-ASDS Gregorio T. Mueco; SGOD Chief Elizabeth M. De Villa, Division Medical Health Officer III Dra. Marie Antoinette A. Tesalona; Nurse-in-Charge (NIC) Ma. Teresita M. Abella, Dentist-in-Charge Dr. Jose Ernie Macario V. Patiño; Dr. Aileen Aquino; and the District Nurses Eusylda U. Carandang, and Princess Leni May Maraya-Rejano.
Rev. Fr. Celso Barreto led the blessing ceremony attended by the Division Health Section, the SGOD Chief, the Mun. Coun. Carlo Jaranilla, the PSDS, and the Pitogo District School Heads.
After the SDHCP-Clinic blessing, the official ribbon cutting ceremony was conducted. Shortly after, a program was held beside the clinic—the welcome message delivered by Nurse Eusylda Carandang.
Messages were then imparted by Eloisa Castillo, School Head In-Charge for Health Services; Hon. Carlo Jaranilla, Municipal Councilor - Committee on Education; NIC Abella; and DIC Dr. Patiño.
After hearing the inspiring messages, another speech was provided by the School Governance Operations Division (SGOD) Chief Elizabeth M. De Villa. She encouraged the schools to give importance in providing space for the school clinic. It was highlighted that having one is essential in this time of pandemic and in preparation for possible face-to-face classes.
PSDS Meriam C. Camposano gave a gratitude statement for those persons behind the program, including the Local Government Unit (LGU) for the never-ending support to the education sector; the TM of DepEd Quezon, for continuing the programs on health services; Usec. Alain Del B. Pascua, for funding priorities for the construction of the clinic ceiling; the Provincial Governor’s Office, for donating a few medical equipment through the Special Education Fund (SEF), and most especially the DepEd Central Office and DepEd Region IV-A CALABARZON for the opportunity to have equipment for Medical and Dental services: the dental chairs clinic beds, weighing scale, portable nebulizers , oxygen tank, wheelchairs, stretchers, different dental instruments, medicines, and other medical equipment.
Pitogo District ended this program by giving the Service Award to District Nurse Eusylda U. Carandang for her untiring effort to render services in her assignment.
