BATANGAS CITY , March 7– A lively display of teamwork and camaraderie unfolded during the Tug of War event held at Ambulong Elementary School as part of the Laro ng Lahi and Bocce Exhibition for Regional and Division Officials, a fellowship activity ahead of the official opening of the CALABARZON Regional Athletic Association Meet (RAAM) 2026 later in the day.
In the first match of the event, the Quezon–Rizal Cluster faced the Batangas Cluster in a spirited contest that quickly energized the gathering of education leaders and participants.
Despite being outnumbered, 10 players to 8, the Quezon–Rizal team showed impressive coordination and determination. Assistant Schools Division Superintendent Aris Baragp positioned himself at the front, setting the rhythm of the pulls, while Schools Division Superintendent Rommel Bautista anchored the team at the rear, providing stability and strength as the group leaned back and pulled in unison.
Also joining the team were Assistant Schools Division Superintendents Roselyn Golfo and Lorena Walangsumbat, who actively participated in the match, demonstrating the spirit of unity and friendly competition among education leaders.
As the whistle sounded, both teams tightened their grip and dug their heels into the ground, with the rope swaying as each side fought to gain advantage. Cheers and laughter from fellow officials and spectators filled the venue as the teams synchronized their pulls.
In a dramatic turn, the Quezon–Rizal Cluster gradually gained ground despite their numerical disadvantage. With a final coordinated effort, they pulled the marker across the line, securing the victory for Quezon–Rizal.
The match served as a light yet meaningful fellowship activity for regional and division officials prior to the official opening of RAAM 2026, highlighting the values of teamwork, sportsmanship, and camaraderie that the athletic meet seeks to promote across the CALABARZON region.
Beyond the competition, the Tug of War reflected the enduring charm of Laro ng Lahi, bringing together education leaders in a moment of shared energy, laughter, and unity. (MJDPatiño)
