In the world of dancesport, one name shines brightly – Maria Donna Dizon Cosejo, affectionately known as Ms. D. A woman of indomitable spirit and boundless passion, Ms. D has been making waves as the Secondary Head Teacher VI of the MAPEH Department of Quezon National High School and the Palarong Pambansa Dancesport Tournament Director since 2019. Beyond her official titles, Ms. D is a beacon of hope for countless aspiring dancers, particularly those from less fortunate backgrounds.
Her mission is clear - to help less fortunate youth achieve their dreams through the power of dance. Ms. D aims to propagate dancesport across the entire country and develop programs that will not only promote the sport but also provide opportunities for talented individuals to flourish in the field.
Since 2008, Ms. D has been running her own studio, nurturing and guiding hundreds of dance enthusiasts towards becoming professionals. Among these, she considers certain individuals as her proteges, including Allyssa Dator, Von Elijah Lavado, Cherry Ann Almedilla, Gabriel Pangilinan, Kirsten Marthena Blaire Bacher, Renz Ezekiel Ramos, Niovie Malabanan, Quin Calyx Pamanano, and Mary Chloe Santos - all shining examples of dedication and talent in the world of dancesport.
Ms. D believes in instilling values, attitudes, commitment, and discipline among her dance scholars, recognizing that while skills can be learned, the right attitudes are paramount. She ensures that her students receive professional training from the Philippine Dancesport Federation, keeping them updated on current trends in dancesport.
One of Ms. D's ongoing struggles is securing funds for her dance scholars. Despite this challenge, her determination remains unwavering as she continues to work towards her dream of making dancesport a regular sport in the Palarong Pambansa. Thanks to her efforts, this dream is now becoming a reality, marking a significant milestone in the history of dancesport.
Looking ahead, Ms. D hopes to expand her reach and help even more less fortunate youth find a path to a brighter future through the art of dance. Her unwavering dedication and passion serve as an inspiration to all, reminding us that with hard work, perseverance, and a generous heart, anything is possible.
