STA ROSA CITY – Combined effort of both elementary and secondary schools’ campus journalists of DepEd Quezon served as the key to unlock the team’s 5th Best Performing Division award in the recently concluded Regional Schools Press Conference (RSPC) 2024 held in Laguna cluster divisions, February 26-March 2.
The team emerged as the 2nd best performing division in the group events for elementary, 3rd best performing division in the group events for secondary, and 4th best performing SDO in the combined group and individual events - secondary level.
In the school paper contest, DepEd Quezon harvested the following awards in the elementary level: 7th Pahinang Balita and 7th Pahinang Lathalain courtesy of Ang Gayang, Guinayangan Elementary School.
Secondary school paper entries won the following awards: Ang Niyog of Quezon NHS - 6th Pahinang balita, 4th pahinang editorial, and 7th pag aanyo ng pahina; while its English version The Coconut was hailed as 7th best in layout/page design; Taga-Recto, the official school paper of Recto MNHS finished 2nd in pahinang editorial and 6th in pahinang lathalain; Ang Talipe?o of Talipan NHS won 3rd in layout and 7th in lathalain while its English version El Talipe?o was declared 4th best in layout/page design; Ang Kristal of Sto Domingo NHS was 1st in editorial page and 4th in sports page; and Quezon Science High School’s The Velocity was 7th placer both in editorial and sports pages respectively.
The top 7 school papers per section, per medium, and per level automatically qualify to compete in the National Schools Press Conference (NSPC) 2024 set in July at the City Schools Division of Mandaue.
In a related event, DepEd Quezon brought home several individual writing awards: 5th in science writing English Elem – Feytt Amjerine Godito of Mauban South; 5th in photojournalism Filipino – Rianne Ayag of Bukal Sur; and 2nd in photojournalism English – Christian Prince Untalan of Candelaria ES Main.
Mark Gayds Parafina of Atimonan NCHS added award to the SDO after finishing 5th in news writing, Juliana Marie Solis of Tagkawayan NHS romped away with the 2nd place in feature writing, Jerimy Tronilla of Quezon NHS was 7th place in sports writing, and the tandem of Crystal Soriano-Khimberly Claire Recto of Quezon NHS was 2nd best in mobile journalism Filipino.
Relatively, online publishing team in English from Quezon Science HS composed of David Kyle Lucila, Zyranne Margarette Alzola, Emanuel Andrei Veluz, Marcus Charles Pe?aranda, and Allaena Joy Quiozon won second place, while the Filipino counterpart composed of Recto MNHS campus journalists Charle Anthonette Dagohoy, Franchesca Yvonne Dimaano, Henrheil Ulit, Juris Claire Ilagan, and Jonalene Ambal won 7th place.
The TV scriptwriting and broadcasting English group added points for its 4th place finish. Members of the TV composite team were Rafael John Carandang (QNHS), Sofia Dianne Ranas (QNHS), Faye Yvette Barretto (QNHS), Miradelle Lustanas (QNHS) and Alfonze Viktor Pinawin (GNHS).
The collaborative desktop publishing teams elementary level chipped in points as 4th placers both in English and Filipino. The teams were composed of campus journalists from Gumaca West ES namely Gavin Liam B. Pinawin, Erich Jill D. Tullas, Athena L. Pardines, Princess Jazmine Miraede N. Valencia, and Janella Monique A. Matias (English), Carys Loraine M. Flores, Fiona Ganiele C. Folloso, Marvie Joy C. Ribleza, Eunice Venancio, and Dominique Grey C. Adad (Filipino).
Meanwhile, the collaborative publishing secondary won back-to-back 3rd place composed of Talipan NHS (English) and Recto MNHS (Filipino) campus journalists. TNHS team: Reine Arabelle L. Monterey, Jase Gerald V. Arquiza, Dale Enzo S. Barangas, Crizialyn O. Pinol, and Gerundio A. Real IV while team RMNHS were Princess Sofhia M. Fernandez, Dane Gabriel I. Dalog, Vivien E. Pimentel, Romadel S. Tanio, and Xyrelle Anne T. Manalo.
Radio broadcasting team delivered good performances as 2nd best script (English-Elem) and 6th best group; 3rd best script (Filipino-Elem) and 7th best group. The English team were Sky Cassiel Villeno, Gene Margaret Banzuelo, Vince Javeriel Salayo, Joehan Micko Estrada, and Maria Abe – a composite team from Sampaloc ES, and Gumaca West ES; the composite team in Filipino from Atimonan ES and Sampaloc ES: Luke Andrei R. Callejo, Andreah Dayo, Denise Keith P. Gamboa Cazvel Meji J. Inoy, and Rihanna Mitz M. Mangalit.
The secondary English RB composite team from Quezon Science HS and Quezon NHS brought home 1st place news presenter, 3rd place in technical application and 4th best group awards. The line up of English RB team: Glen Garcia, Zelynne Bustamante, Jhames Lenadrew Tan, Yesha Nicole Camacho, and Raphael Ryan Guerrero.
The RB composite team in Filipino were campus journalists of Quezon NHS, Quezon SHS, and Talipan NHS won 2nd best anchor, 3rd best news presenter, 3rd infomercial, and 3rd place best group. The line up included James Bryant Rustia, Theo Carurucan, Rhayzell Verga, Daniela Sophia Ibarrola, and Amanda Thea Mendoza.
