In a grand celebration of commitment and dedication, the Schools Division of Quezon Province hosted the 2023 DepEd Quezon Rewards and Recognition (R&R) Ceremonies at the Quezon Convention Center, Quezon Capitol Compound, Lucena City, December 21. The event aimed to express gratitude and acknowledge the invaluable contributions of DepEd Quezon personnel and stakeholders who have been instrumental in supporting the Department's various programs, projects, and activities.
The event commenced with a grand entrance featuring awardees, finalists, guests, and the Top Management. Following the initial proceedings, Assistant Schools Division Superintendent Herbert D. Perez delivered the opening remarks, emphasizing that Gintong Binhi, DepEd Quezon’s annual recognition, has been symbolically used in teleseryes. He highlighted that the individuals receiving awards are symbolized by the precious golden seed. ASDS Perez expressed, "Ang hiyas ng gintong binhi ang mga taong ating bibigyan ng parangal sa hapong ito. Ang gintong binhi ay pag-asa sa isang magandang bukas para sa ating lahat. Sa mga nagdaang panahon at sa hinaharap, patuloy po nating aanihin at ipagmamalaki ang ating mga natatanging gintong binhi ng DepEd Quezon na katuwang natin para sa matagumpay na pagtataguyod ng serbisyong tunay at sapat para sa lahat ng mga mag-aaral sa lalawigan."

Meanwhile, Dr. Rommel C. Bautista, the Schools Division Superintendent, emphasized in his inspirational message the formidable path to becoming nominees, stressing the significance of experiences, knowledge acquisition, and commendable behavior. He urged them to acknowledge their success with applause as they become part of the honored awardees.
“Dahil pinanday kayo ng inyong karanasan, sinanay kayo sa mga kaalaman, at ipinakita ninyo ang inyong mga wastong kaugalian upang mapabilang sa hanay ng mga finalists na tampok sa araw na ito. Kaya ngayon pa lamang ay bigyan niyo na ng malakas na palakpak ang inyong mga sarili dahil sa inyong tagumpay sa pagkabilang sa ating mga awardee,” SDS Bautista said.
Six prestigious awards were presented during the ceremony, each highlighting different aspects of excellence and dedication within the schools and the Division.
Among the awards presented, the Division recognized the exceptional implementation of Brigada Eskwela, an initiative designed to prepare schools through community engagement in maintenance and cleanup activities. The Best Implementer Awards were presented across different categories.

In addition to Brigada Eskwela awards, the Division also acknowledged excellence in Disaster Risk Reduction and Management and Humanitarian Assistance through the Gawad KALASAG. Pinagdanlayan Elementary School, Dolores District, and Paaralang Sekundarya ng Heneral Nakar, General Nakar 2 District received the award in the Elementary and Secondary categories, respectively.
The ceremony further recognized the invaluable contributions of partners and supporters with the Gawad Kaagapay. A total of 97 private individuals, 93 private groups/organizations, and 65 government awardees received this recognition for their unwavering support of the Division's initiatives, in accordance with DepEd Order No. 02, s. 2013 (Revised IRR of RA 8525 or the Adopt-a-School Program Act of 1998).
The event also highlighted the achievements of schools, educators, and students through Gawad ALAB, which honors exceptional youth formation program implementers, student-leaders, teacher-advisers, and school heads. Notable recipients included San Narcisco Central Elementary School (SELG Best Implementer-Maka-Diyos, Makatao, Makakalikasan, Makabansa); Tamina Joy Pedida (SELG Most Outstanding Student-Leader); Chit F. Aquino (SELG Most Outstanding Teacher-Adviser); Tagkawayan National High School (SSLG Best Implementer-Maka-Diyos); Recto Memorial National High School (SSLG Best Implementer-Makatao); Lopez National Comprehensive High School (SSLG Best Implementer-Makakalikasan); Talipan National High School (SSLG Best Implementer-Makabansa); Dawn Lujille M. Taba (SSLG Most Outstanding Student-Leader); Rosalie A Tabien (SSLG Most Outstanding Teacher-Adviser); Rodel D. Magyaya (SSLG School Head Recognition Award); Behia Elementary School (YES-O Best Implementer-Elementary); Claires Jhianyl T. Licaros (YES-O Most Outstanding Student-Leader (Elementary); Liza C. Two major awards, Gawad Gintong Binhi and ALITAPTAP Awards, recognizing excellence at both individual and institutional levels, were also presented, showcasing the Division's commitment to fostering creativity, innovativeness, efficiency, integrity, and productivity in public service and information management and technology advocacy.
The occasion was also honored by the presence of Senior Human Resource Specialist Jechris Gerero, who represented CSC Lucena Field Office Director II Jacinto C. Mateo III.
Moreover, Loyalty Awards were conferred upon SDO personnel with over 25 years of dedicated service. SDS Bautista, on the other hand, presented the Leadership Excellence Award to ASDS Herbert D. Perez, ASDS Gregorio T. Mueco, and ASDS Edward D. Garcia, and the Division PRAISE Committee and Validators also received Plaques of Recognition.
In his closing remarks, ASDS Mueco expressed high regard for all the awardees and finalists of the 2023 Gawad Binhi, stating, "Katulad po ng mainam na binhi, kayo po ay sisibol, lalago, at mamumunga ng mga serbisyong tapat at sapat para sa ating Quezonian learners." He also extended gratitude to stakeholders and partners for their support to the schools, learners in the Division of Quezon, and to all those contributing to the success of Gawad Gintong Binhi 2023.
