First mini science centrum of Quezon launched in Polillo

 The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) in CALABARZON is working on a project called "Establishment of Mini Science Centrum for Selected Island Municipalities in Quezon Province" that aims to display interactive and distinctive exhibits on science concepts and processes that can aid teachers and students in the island municipalities of Polillo, Burdeos, Panukulan, Patnanungan, and Jomalig.

In time with the commemoration of the Regional Science and Technology Innovation Week, with the theme "KaSYENSAYAhan sa CALABARZON," the first Mini Science Centrum in CALABARZON was officially opened in Polillo Central Elementary School, Polillo, Quezon, on Tuesday, September 12.

DOST-CALABARZON, the Philippine Foundation for Science and Technology, DepEd Quezon, the Provincial Government of Quezon Province, and the Local Government Unit of Polillo collaborated in the development and completion of this project.

Reverend Father Ceferino "Boyet" S. Valenzuela Jr. led the invocation to open the program, thanking and praising God Almighty for this fantastic and once-in-a-lifetime occasion. The event was attended by distinguished visitors, including Prof. Fortunato T. dela Peña, PFST Chairman and former DOST Secretary; Gov. Angelina “Doktora Helen” Tan of the Provincial Government of Quezon; Mayor Angelique E. Bosque of Polillo, Quezon; Ms. Emelita P. Bagsit, Regional Director of DOST-CALABARZON; and representatives from DepEd-Quezon including ASDS Edward D. Garcia, CID-Chief Lorena S. Walangsumbat, EPS Carmela Ezcel A. Orogo; Division Engr. Ramil O. Arbolente, PSDS Dr. Leonora T. Mopera, Polillo CS Principal II Gilbert J. Rogado, and Master Teacher II/District Science Coordinator Maria Nadia Camson. The gathering also included a number of representatives from partner collaborators.

Through a recorded message, Sancho Mabborang, DOST Undersecretary for Regional Operations, expressed his support for the realization of this project in the island municipality which could bring fun and excitement in learning science concepts through a variety of interactive exhibits and galleries closer to learners.

Also, the MOA signing took place during the ceremony.
