ATIMONAN, QUEZON – No less than Hon. Dra. Helen Tan, Provincial Governor of Quezon spearheaded Project KID BIBO’s launching at the Malinao Ilaya Elementary School, July 27.
Gov. Tan expressed full support to KID BIBO’s implementation from the financial to material aspects, and even manpower through her scholars who act as tutors to ensure that the project will help bridge reading and numeracy gaps among Quezonian learners.
The governor allocated around P2 million budget for the pilot testing of the project to defray the costs of capacity building for scholar – tutors and teachers, meal allowance for learners, scholars, and teachers, honoraria for teachers, and printing of learning materials.
“We need to harmonize all efforts to come up with strategic measures in ensuring that every Quezonian learner achieves functional literacy and numeracy essential in today’s highly competitive world,” the governor mentioned.
The province’ chief executive also highlighted that whatever we do – things will not go forward without investing in education. This is why she assures her full support to Project KID BIBO as an initiative to improve learning outcomes.
Also, the governor urged the parents to help the school by teaching their children at home. “Nakakatulong sa learning kung ano meron sa tahanan, the governor said.
After the launching program, the governor shared time as storyteller to 20 children who listened to the story ‘Ang Bisikleta ni Momon written by Rebecca A?onuevo.’
Meanwhile, Dr. Rommel C, Bautista, Schools Division Superintendent articulated words of gratitude to the governor for the support channeled to the project and other DepEd endeavors.
“It takes a village to educate a child – and the DepEd, the provincial government, and LGUs constitute the village that affirm strong resolve towards elevating education in the province,” the SDS said.
Other provincial and local officials present in the KID BIBO’s launching included Engineer Rustico Mendoza, Municipal Mayor of Atimonan, Councilors Roseller Magtibay, Romel Verastigue, and Jun Vidal, Barangay Captain Parco, PSDSs Caridad Grimaldo, Susan Nera, Rachel de Jesus, principal of Malinao Ilaya ES, school heads and teachers of Atimonan, ASDSs Greg Mueco and Herbert Perez, CID Chief Lorena Walangsumbat, SGOD Chief Elizabeth De Villa, EPSs Abner Pureza, Joseph Jarasa, Celestina Alba, and Dylin Garcia, and also the parents and learner- beneficiaries of the project
Aimed at addressing literacy and numeracy crisis in the division.
Project KID BIBO is a partnership program between DepEd and the provincial government of Quezon in which pilot testing started last week with 12 school beneficiaries or three priority schools per congressional district.
The school beneficiaries are Malicboy East ES, Dinahican ES, Infanta NHS (1ST district), Bukal Sir ES, Bukal Sur NHS, Masin ES (2nd district), San Isdro NHS Catanuan, Hagonghong ES, San Adres Central ES (3rd district), Gumaca East ES, Malinao Ilaya ES, and Cogorin Ibaba NHS (4th district).
