To monitor the implementation of Oplan Kalusugan sa DepEd (OKD) flagship program, including the School-Based Feeding Program (SBFP) and Medical Dental and Nursing Services, the Central Office (CO) and the Regional Office (RO) joined forces to hold a focus group discussion with the Division Technical Working Group and visit schools in SDO Quezon, together with partner agencies, such as the NDO, PCC and DOST-FNRI, June 5-7.
Dr. Mariblanca Piatos, Medical Officer IV of DepEd CO, headed the FGD and progress monitoring of the OKD flagship program implementation.
On Day 1 at the Real Sub-Office, Dr. Marie Antoinette A. Tesalona, Medical Officer III; Nurse in Charge Ma. Teresita Abella; and Dentist in Charge Dr. Jose Macario Ernie Patiño, along with the Top Management and School Health Section’s program focal persons, presented the MOVs for the program implementation in SDO Quezon.
Canda ES and Canda NHS (Sariaya East District) were monitored for the implementation of the SBFP and Teen Health Kiosk on the second day. Observation on the administration of Sponsored Supplementary Feeding Program in Paaralang Elementarya ng Lucban (PEL) 2 was also conducted. The utilization and accomplishments of the School Dental Health Care Program (SDHCP) of Lutucan ES (Sariaya West District) and Paaralang Elementarya ng Lucban (PEL) 1 (Lucban District) were also validated by the team.
Other activities on the last day include ocular inspection of SBFP’s E-Nutribun Adoptor, Scones and Muffins Bakeshop in Lucena City, and Pecto’s Bakery in Lucban Quezon. There was also a learning visit at the Rise and Rebuild International Foundation (RRIF) farm, PEL 2 Supplementary Feeding Program Sponsor.
The three-day activity concluded with a Post Conference held at the Lucban District Office focusing on technical assistance for the improvement of program implementation. The Division was likewise commended on its best practices.
The monitoring team from the CO was comprised of Dr. Piatos, together with Technical Assistant II Ferdinand Nunez; Administrative Assistant V Dave Velasco; Administrative Support I Francisco Competente; Health Education and Promotion Officer III Phanny Ramos; and Assistant II Shirley Laurel Administrative. Regional representatives included ESSD Chief Michael Girard Alba and Dr. Annaliza Araojo, Dentist III.
SDS Rommel C. Bautista, ASDS Gregorio T. Mueco, ASDS Herbert D. Perez, and OIC-ASDS Edward D. Garcia were also present in the FGD. SDS Bautista assured the monitoring team that health programs, projects and activities in the Division are continuously implemented in SDO Quezon to ensure that all personnel and learners reach their full health potential.
