To promote and encourage public discourse and collective action to strengthen girls' safety, protective behavior, and knowledge of adolescent sexual and reproductive health, which are keys to the realization of their rights, the School Governance and Operations Division, through the Adolescent Reproductive Health (ARH) Team of the School Health Section, spearheaded a Webinar on "Adolescent Pregnancy and Orientation on IChoose and KonektadoTayo" as part of the 2023 Girl Child Week Celebration in DepEd Quezon, with the theme "Strong Girls, Strong World; Protecting Girl's Rights and Well-being in the Face of Adversity", March 28, 2023.
Participants included the SSG, SPG, Teen Health Kiosk officers, and Peer Navigators, as well as their respective school ARH and guidance coordinators from twelve schools, namely: Patnanungan NHS, Canda NHS, San Isidro NHS, Bondoc Peninsula Agricultural High School, Alabat NHS, Hondagua NHS, Tagkawayan NHS, Lopez National Comprehensive High School, Jongo NHS, Lopez West Building I, Pansol Elementary School, and Hondagua Elementary School.
Ms. Lavinia R. Cueto, Nurse II of Bondoc Peninsula Agricultural High School and Alternate ARH Focal Person, discussed adolescent pregnancy while Ms. Princess Leni May M. Rejano, SHS Nurse II and Division ARH Focal Person, led the orientation on the IChoose #malayaakongmaging website and KonektadoTayo FB Page, an online information tool developed by POPCOm, DOH, USAID, and Roots of Health.
OIC-ASDS Edward D. Garcia's message, which reaffirmed that having the right information about adolescent health is a step forward in preventing adolescent sexual health issues like teenage pregnancy, served as an inspiration in the aforementioned webinar.
