Quezon paddler earns two step advantage to championship

 IMUS CITY – DepEd Quezon Dolphin paddler strikes the lead twice in the elimination round earning a ticket to possible championship slot with two step advantage in Table Tennis Single A-Elementary Level on March 25 in Gov. D.M. Camarino Integrated School.

Liam Zion F. Cabalu, grade 6 pupil, relaeased his all might, strength and power defeating other equally strong contenders from San Pablo City Division and Rizal Province, 3 – 0 respectively. Cabalu, during his first game, was destructed by pressure as he almost missed the first set resulting to triple deuce but he regained his momentum and took the lead, 15 – 13.

“Natakot nga po ako kanina, dahil sa sobrang kaba, medyo apektado ang diskarte at palo ko. Buti nabawi ko pa po,” he explained.

Powerful drives, spins, blocks rallied in the second set. Both ends were enthusiastic to return the rally aiming to gain points. Cabalu used the placing tactics that mislead his opponents action ruling this set, 11 – 8.

San Pablo spinner seemed to be pressured in the third set as he continuously missed service shots, failing to return the rally that gave advantage to Cabalu accelerating the score score, 11-9 Relatively, Cabalu continued decisive moves beating Rizal Province’ representative in another game.

Cool and bubbly in the first set, simple relays of forehand and backhand hit earned the lead for Cabalu; but Rizal’s bet was complacent with returning the Cabalu’s hits advancing a 11-9 outcome.

Cabalu reinvented his moves showing more aggressive and forceful attacks in the second set, flooding his foe with continuous spins and drives that caused the later to panic and eventually losing his focus.
