CAVITE CITY- Honorable City Mayor Denver Christopher R. Chua offered a warm welcome to student athletes, officials, coaches, parents, guests and management teams in his version of opening program as the same event concurrently happened with the other co-venues, Dasmarinas and Imus cities.
Hon. Chua expounded the value of sportsmanship and camaraderie while giving thanks to DepEd CALABARZON for choosing his town as one of the playing venues after 25 years of absence of this spectacular event, Montano Sports Complex, March 23.
He also emphasized that this activity would help boost their economy since this brings more tourists in his town to witness its astounding beauty and hospitable people. He assured all the contingents of his support and utmost protection as he deployed and alarmed his policemen and local government units, even the transportation sector not to take advantage the visitors but rather to show them respect and admiration for the successful conduct of the 2023 Regional Athletic Association Meet (RAAM) with the theme “Sports for Peace.”
Mayor Chua, “Montano Sports Complex is the venue where our Asian Sprint Queen Lydia De Vega Mercado administered her fastest running record, while also the same place where “Ms. Baby Ruth” as first ever homegrown player who made it to the Philippine Softball Team. This place is indeed a place for numerous historic events in sports, just an added spice why I love this event is because I was once a chess player, too, during STRAA meet.”
Meanwhile, Dr. Juan R. Araojo, Jr. OIC, Office of the Schools Division Superintendent, extended his warmest greetings to all assuring them that the playing venues and billeting quarters are safe in the duration of the meet.
“This is truly a baptism of fire for me, for being the OIC ASDS, Office of the Schools Division Superintendent, for only three days.”
Consequently, RD Atty. Alberto T. Escobarte, delivered his inspirational message and declared the sports event opened.
RD Escobarte, “Dearest players, there is always road to excel for every learner, competition is always welcome in any arena. This sports event helps strengthen the character of every learner and develops his/her resiliency and perseverance.”
In addition, SDSs and ASDSs of the 23 divisions, TWGs from DepEd CALABARZON, Local Government Unit of Cavite City, and officiating officials also graced the occasion.
SDS Elias Alicaya Jr. of Deped Quezon attended the event and monitored the games and the billeting quarters of the delegation.
DepEd Quezon delegation took part in the sporting event by virtue of the Division Memorandum No. 22, s. 2023 dubbed as “List of Delegation and Officials of the 2023 Regional Athletic Association Meet Game Proper.
Mr. Fernando T. Seño, EPS-ESP, with Dr. Marlon M. Rañeses, PSDS, Gumaca East, and the TWGs assigned in the venue led the contingent of the Quezon Blue Dolphins in the aforesaid event boasting their excitement and athletic skills while wearing their prescribed athletic meet uniform.
