Sariaya Community Rondalla (SCR) was one of the highlight performers in the Filipino Food Month 2023 – National Celebration Opening Ceremony and Media Launch at the Metropolitan Theater, March 21.
Themed “Pagkaing Sariling Atin, Mahalin at Pagyamanin”, the event was led by the Department of Agriculture (DA), the Department of Tourism (DOT), the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), and the Philippine Culinary Heritage Movement (PCHM).
The SCR rendered the Philippine National Anthem with the JRU Chorale, and performed the following repertoire during the Cultural Presentation:
Khruhay - by S. Estacio;
Kalinangan ng Bansa - by M. Baustista;
Gaano Kita Kamahal - by A. Pasamba;
Sa Kabukiran - by N. Espejo; and
Awitin Mo at Isasayaw ko - by N. Espejo.
The SCR was founded by ASDS Herbert D. Perez in 2002, comprising three generations of musicians: the Sariaya Elementary Rondalla (SER), Sariaya Community Rondalla (SCR), and the Sariaya Alumni Rondalla (SAR).
