The Schools Division of Quezon responded to the challenge of education in the new normal and designed a Learning continuity Plan (LCP) highlighting different learning modalities each school can adopt depending on their own context.
The said LCP was presented to the Public Schools District Supervisors, School Heads and Education Program Supervisors during the Management Committee (MANCOM) meeting held on separate dates: June 24, 25 and 26. Prior to the MANCOM, the LCP was also presented to Governor Danilo Suarez on June 23.
Dr. Catherine P. Talavera, CESO V, Schools Division Superintendent led the presentation citing the challenges of the new normal that prompted the division to craft the LCP which will be implemented in the 752 elementary and 200 secondary schools throughout the division.
“Education needs to be sustained amid Covid 19 pandemic. Schools must design authentic mechanism to continue delivering quality education through modalities that fit their community of learners. Teachers are called to spearhead a mission to be the new front liners,” the superintendent said.
In a related matter, Dr. Elias Alicaya Jr, the new Assistant Schools Division Superintendent (ASDS) in charge of the Curriculum Implementation Division (CID), pointed out the essentials of the LCP in addressing learning delivery issues in the context of the current situation. He defined the situational analysis of the DepEd Quezon learners and how the materials will be distributed to them via learning centers.
Relatively, Dr. Gregorio Co Jr, OIC ASDS in charge of the School Governance Operation Division (SGOD) shared the same thought as of Dr. Alicaya. He stressed that monitoring of learning progress is a challenging job among the supervisors, school heads and teachers. He urged each school to come up with a functional scheme to ensure thorough monitoring of students’ progress while in home study or distance learning.
Meanwhile, Mr, Herbert D. Perez, also an OIC-ASDS in charge of Administrative Department cited the role of teachers and school heads in explaining to the parents and to the community leaders the need for collaboration. He pointed out that parents must be made to realize that they must act as learning support to their children.
