LOPEZ QUEZON - With 17 and 10 delegates from fourth and third district respectively, Lopez National Comprehensive High School-Dolor Amphitheater served as the arena for the Wushu Competition during Palarong Quezon 2023.
Third District romped away with 8 gold medals apiece while Fourth district delegation garnered 2 gold and 8 silver medals as the tournament concluded, March 4.
Before the game proper, Mr. Ramir L. Cagujas, Tournament Manager, differentiated the two disciplines of Wushu during the ground rules such as Tao Lu and Sanda, where athletes will compete under the sparring category or Sanda,” Cagujas added. Delegates were divided based on the weight screening.
The competition commenced with a match under female category, 42 kilograms. Third district representative finished the match with strong counter punches during the two consecutive rounds, bringing its district’s first gold medal and ended the entire competition with eight gold medals.
Fourth District delegation earned its first gold medal during the 45-kilogram male category. Its representative released numerous attacks taking his opponent down concluding the fight with a straight head punch.
Meanwhile, in the 52-kilogram female category, the delegate of fourth district started the bout with several intense attacks coupled with counter swing punch making her opponent out of the mat.
However, the district's representative went short of ammunition upon making a defense that cause leg cramps to keep her balance.
After 10 sets of matches, fourth district clinched this year’s Palarong Quezon with two gold medals from male category, 45 and 48 kilograms. Mr. Aldred L.
