Heavily affected by Typhoon Karding, there were 486 families sheltered in 32 SDO Quezon schools which were used as evacuation centers on September 25, 2022.
Ninety-eight classrooms temporarily held the 1,830 evacuees, including 525 learners, 14 PWDs, 164 senior citizens and 27 pregnant women decamped the next day, September 26.
The SDO through its Division DRRM team and the Education Facilities Section is already extending support and assistance to affected schools in the municipalities of Mauban, Real, Infanta, Polillo, Burdeos, Jomalig, Patnanungan, and others.
Meanwhile, the local government of Polillo Island already suspended classes at all levels, except college, on Tuesday (September 27) to give way for the conduct of clearing operations and inspection of buildings and facilities.
SDO Quezon has already coordinated with higher authorities, the provincial/municipal government, and stakeholders to expedite the recovery of typhoon-hit schools and nearby communities.
