School nurses act as volunteers, assume front liners’ tasks
Schools Division of Quezon (SDO) organized a task force in-charge of online health survey/ monitoring of the health status of all teaching and non-teaching personnel of the division. The task force also aimed to track down history of travel among personnel and teachers in places with confirmed cases of Covid19.
A total of 18,066 employees from SDO and 56 districts participated in the online survey/ monitoring led by the ICT Department.
This is a part of the alternative work arrangement (Work from home scheme) designed for continuous monitoring of personnel and learners with travel history. Personnel and learners who attended national contests in the onset of Covid 19 pandemic were asked to undergo 14-day quarantine. The health section under Miss Tess Abella and SGOD Chief Elizabeth Elizabeth De Villa monitored them in partnership with the Local Government Unit of each district in Quezon Province.
Meanwhile, Local Government Units of the different municipalities worked in partnership with DepEd and agreed to use schools as quarantine facilities. The SDO School Health Section and the SDO DRRM team were assigned to monitor remote school used as quarantine area.
In a related event, school nurses rendered their time and service as frontliners during the implementation of the Enhanced Community Quarantine. Some were deployed in checkpoints and other designated areas of the barangay and municipalities, while others made their presence available in assisting other health personnel in Rural Health Units.
