Replicating the previous feat, DepEd Quezon young scribes finished third place over-all among the 22 divisions in CALABARZON that competed in the Virtual Regional Schools Press Conference (RSPC) held March 14-18. In the awarding ceremony conducted April 21 at DepEd CALABARZON’s fb live streaming, DepEd Quezon amassed 280 points to settle for the third place in the over- all tally of scores behind Cavite province with a haul of 430 points and Imus City division with 353 points for the first and second places respectively. It was the third consecutive time that DepEd Quezon ranked 2nd runner up in the anticipated regional writing bout which was suspended for the last two years due to the pandemic. It could be remembered that during RSPC 2017 in Batangas province, Quezon delegation was hailed third place over-all; that performance was maintained in RSPC 2018 held in Laguna province and sustained in this year’s edition. “We trained hard for this RSPC season since the competition is more complicated than before. It’s not only the writing ability of the campus journalists that was put to a test but also their digital literacy where each of our contestant competed against their peers, technology, and internet signal,” EPS Joseph Jarasa, one of the division focal persons in Campus Journalism said. Only the nine individual writing contest categories were carried out this year as team competitions like radio broadcasting, TV broadcasting, collaborative publishing, online publishing, and school paper contest were suspended in observance of the no social gathering mandate.
