In the furtherance of the Division initiatives on Gender and Development (GAD) towards attaining Women Empowerment (WE), DepEd Quezon organized a Gender Sensitivity Training (GST) for Division Office personnel via Zoom on Wednesday, November 17. Dr. Jennifer E. Lopez, Department of Education Bureau of Human Resource and Organizational Development (DepEd-BHROD) Director III, served as the first resource speaker. Based on relevant research findings, Dir. Lopez discussed the gender issues in education in times of pandemic, and gave a sneak-peek on the Department’s gender-responsive policy that is expected to make improvements in the implementation of GAD programs once issued. The BHROD Director commended DepEd Quezon for having released a localized policy on the matter. Dr. Luz E. Osmeña, DepEd IV-A CALABARZON Human Resource Development Division (HRDD) Chief, delivered her session on designing gender responsive proposals. Chief Osmeña underscored the use of Harmonized GAD Guidelines (HGDG) on ensuring that program proposals are addressing the needs of both men and women, and that GAD activities really contribute to WE in schools and offices. In the opening program, OIC-ASDS Gregorio Co Jr. welcomed the participants. Messages were subsequently delivered by the Division GAD Focal Point System (GFPS) chairperson, OIC-SDS Elias Alicaya Jr., and by the Regional GAD Focal Person and Education Program Supervisor, Nadina G. Gaton. The Division GST will run for three days until November 19, 2021. Oscar R. Duma Jr. SEPS | DIO | PReFiC & DICT Core
