To further strengthen DepEd Quezon’s partnership programs, the Schools Division Office (SDO) through the School Governance and Operations Division – Social Mobilization and Networking (SMN) Section gathered its field personnel for its very first Partnership Education Summit in Nawawalang Paraiso, Tayabas City, on June 22-25, 2021.
Said activity is in line with Republic Act No. 8525 (Adopt-a-School Program [ASP] Act of 1998) and its tax incentive provisions based on BIR Circular No. 10-2003.
Resource persons from the Central Office were invited to share about the effective implementation of partnership activites, namely: Ms. Caroline A. Labrague, Project Development Officer II, and Mr. Rudy B. Calgao, Technical Assistant II, of the External Partnership Service Department.
Usec. Tonisito Umali of the Department’s Legislative Affairs also graced the occasion virtually, urging the participants to be familiar with the provisions of the law towards achieving the goals of the ASP.
Caught unguarded by national public health situation, in order to achieve such goals, the agency needs the help of its stakeholders, and to record and assess all partnership initiatives engaged by the SDO or the schools, DepEd Quezon through the SGOD-SMN, in partnership with the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Unit, developed a database system which shall serve as the monitoring and evaluation, and reporting mechanism for partnership activities of all the implementers in the field.
Wilbert B. Porteza, Division Information and Technology Officer, presented to the participants the new system that will provide data in real time. The delegation was composed of the Top Management, the SGOD Chief, the Public Schools District Supervisors, the ASP School Head District-in-Charge, and the ASP District Coordinators.
Dr. Elias A. Alicaya Jr., OIC-SDS delivered a challenge to the participants. He highlighted that the Department is doing its best to respond to the needs of learners and personnel. While the efforts still fall short, outsourcing and building linkages are a must to sustain the implementation of varied programs and projects.
The face-to-face summit was held by batches, following strict health protocols before, during and after the program. The four congressional districts were all represented in the event.
