Discussing underlying issues and policies on the implementation of the Learner Information System, and Enhanced Basic Education Information System (LIS-EBEIS), the School Governance and Operations Division - Planning and Research (PAR) Section held its first Virtual “LIS-EBEIS Coordinators Conference” via Zoom and Facebook Live, February 26, 2021.
In line with the implementation of the Planning Unit’s Project ALISTO (Amplifying Basic Education and Learner Information Systems Services to Allocate Resources and Track Opportunities), the said online conference was conducted, with aims to share the efforts and practices of select Districts on the implementation of LIS/EBEIS and other data management initiatives, address issues and emerging concerns pertaining to the implementation of the systems, and discuss about updates on School Forms (SFs) and related activities.
Planning Officer III Marbin Jeramil Fragata presented the participants highlighting the photos of PAR partners in terms of data management, as well as the conference objectives. After OIC-ASDS Gregorio A. Co Jr. welcomed the participants, the LIS/EBEIS Coordinators Annie A. Coronation (Infanta), Arvin A. Casires (Dolores) and Jayson F. Luna (Lopez East), shared their best practices as regards LIS-EBEIS management in their respective districts and schools. Coronacion presented the activities conducted in Infanta to address issues encountered, including the creation of REINA (Real, Infanta, General Nakar) LIS Coordinators group chat to readily address concerns on SF 10 follow-up and confirmation; and simultaneous encoding of BEIS data for timely submission of SFs. Casires also presented the district data management initiatives of Dolores in the New Normal. Meanwhile, Luna underscored best practices in the large school settings.
Two DepEd Central Office personnel from the Planning Service served as the Conference Speakers—Technical Assistant V Jonathan F. Diche, and Information Technology Officer I/ Lead Systems Coordinator Deogracias B. Genito Jr.
Diche discussed essential provisions of the Enrolment Policy as per DepEd Order (DO) No. 3, s. 2018 and DO 8, s. 2020, the issues on Transfer of Documents as per DO 54, s. 2016, and the SFs and Checking Policy anchored on DO 4, s. 2014, DO 58, s. 2017 and DO 11, 2018. On the other hand, Genito provided a brief history of LIS and updates on the upcoming BEIS activities, such as the online orientation on BEIS Forms, processes, and new facilities. An open forum followed—questions addressed to the resource persons.
OIC-SDS Elias A. Alicaya Jr., EdD underscored the importance of timely and accurate data in the decision-making process. SGOD Chief Elizabeth M. De Villa closed the virtual conference by thanking the participants.
The event which Agdangan LIS/EBEIS Coordinator Sherry Ann R. Casapao moderated was participated by 1,150 District and LIS/EBEIS Coordinators from public and private schools. Those districts with internet difficulties were necessitated to gather in one area, following the IATF protocols. There were 5,100 views recorded in the livestream.
