Assistant Regional Director Loida N. Nidea called on educators from the First Congressional District of Quezon Province to contribute to community empowerment by actively engaging in sustainable research practices within their field.
Nidea emphasized that through consistent and responsible research, communities can become more informed and proactive, allowing individuals to not only share knowledge but also take actions toward collective growth.
“If we think education is expensive, then buy ignorance. And when we buy ignorance, the more that we will have problems in our society. And we don’t like that to happen. Kaya we need to develop an empowered community through a sustainable, good practice,” said Nidea during the second installment of Quezon Educators’ Research Convention (QERC) last Sunday at Quezon Convention Center, Lucena City.
She also emphasized that good research practice doesn’t end with making recommendations and achieving personal promotion but must be shared so that others can contribute, ensuring that researches have broader impacts in the community.
“Hindi dahil nagresearch ka, nagrecommend ka, mayroon kang promotion, it will end there. It will die a natural death and earn dusts in the shelves,” she added, stressing that the importance of sharing research recommendations should encourage others to take part in implementing them.
Nidea served as the Keynote Speaker in this year’s QERC which was attended by around 6,330 teaching and non-teaching personnel from various districts from SDO Quezon First Congressional District and SDO Tayabas City.
Meanwhile, three researches were presented to inspire teachers. These included “Escalating the Level of Respect of Learners with Partnership through Project Kwentugali in Ipilan-Apilao Elementary School” by Dr. Alona C. Crisanto of Tayabas West, “Project HOPE: An Intervention Program for the Reduction of Out-of-School Youth in Selected Barangays” by Simon Christopher T. Concepcion of PEL 2, Lucban District and “Sustainability of Leadership Growth: A Study of Job-Embedded Learning for School Heads” by PSDS Catalino L. Porta and Elizabeth F. Guttierez, School Head of Bigo ES from Pagbilao 1.
Governor Angelina “Doktora Helen” Tan and Vice Governor Anacleto A. Alcala III graced the event to inspire the teachers, emphasizing that teaching is a profession that can transform society. They were present not only to motivate the educators but also to join in the celebration of the National Teachers’ Month.
The top management of SDO Quezon awarded certificates to the participants as well as to the research poster and oral presenters, while Dr. Herbert D. Perez, Assistant Schools Division Superintendent of SDO Tayabas City, expressed his gratitude to everyone involved during his closing remarks.
The third and fourth installments of the QERC are scheduled for next weekend, September 14-15, at the same venue, with teachers and non-teaching personnel from Quezon’s Third and Fourth Congressional Districts, as well as SDO Lucena City.
