School leaders of Polillo Group of Islands (PoGI) undertook a three-day Capacity Building on the Implementation of Monitoring Intervention Support for Nation Building (MISYON) initiated by the National Educators’ Academy of the Philippines (NEAP) on June 18-20, 2024 at Casa de Azaula Resort.
This initiative aimed to enhance educational infrastructure and foster nation-building through strategic interventions and comprehensive monitoring.
During the opening program, NEAP Director Jennifer Lopez reaffirmed the inspiring slogan "Galing NEAP, Galing NEAP," symbolizing NEAP's dedication to excellence in education.
Director Lopez stressed the critical role of the MISYON Program in driving educational improvements, highlighting the importance of cohesive efforts among various educational stakeholders. Lopez further emphasized NEAP's role in supporting teachers to enhance instructional practices through professional development at the school level, linking NEAP's transformation to the Department of Education's objective of achieving better learning outcomes.
Meanwhile, NEAP Project Development Officer Marife E. Morcilla outlined the three-day academic exchange's direction, emphasizing the program's strategic goals.
Other NEAP officials from the Central Office graced the MISYON program along with the DepEd Regional officials under Regional Director Alberto Escobarte as represented by SEPS Mark Anthony R. Malonzo.
Meanwhile, Assistant Schools Division Superintendent (ASDS) Roselyn Q. Golpo who represented the Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Rommel Bautista articulated the top management's commitment to effective and sustainable educational interventions.
Dr. Leonora T. Mopera, Public Schools District Supervisor of Polillo District welcomed the NEAP team setting a positive and forward-looking tone. Key DepEd officials, NEAP delegates, and school leaders from the Polillo Group of Islands (PoGI) were introduced, laying the groundwork for robust engagement.
The first day sessions focused on the following themes: Ministering Intervention Support Yielding Opportunities for Nation Building (MISYON) Program; Effective Implementation of MATATAG Curriculum with Director Lopez as the resource person.
Director Lopez also presented the accomplishments of NEAP and outlined the strategic directions. She stressed the significant role of leadership in nation-building, asserting that well-trained school leaders and teachers can drive economic success through improved educational outcomes. She advocated for training designs that are meticulously crafted based on research, the science of learning, and brain-based approaches, ensuring they are both effective and sustainable.
Topics discussed on the second day were Needs Assessment and Development delivered by SEPS Alexander C. Magalan. He introduced various strategies for identifying and validating the needs of teachers. He highlighted the importance of purposefully completing tools such as the E-SAT, IPCRF, and IPPDP, which provide crucial data for analyzing and addressing the developmental needs of educators.
In a related event, NEAP Project Development Officer Dr. Morcilla, delivered a session on Crafting a Plan Towards Effective Implementation of Professional Development (PD) Programs at the school level. She elaborated on the necessary credentials for PRC accreditation and discussed various modalities for implementing PD programs. Morcilla detailed the phases of preparation and underscored the importance of securing adequate funding for these initiatives.
Alvin B. Fulgencio Jr., SEPS of the Quality Assurance Division of NEAP facilitated the final day’s session providing an in-depth discussion on DO 44 s. 2023, which mandates the quality assurance of training packages. Fulgencio explained the criteria for ensuring high-quality training programs, emphasizing the need for thorough evaluation and continuous improvement to maintain the standards set by NEAP.
