Fireball Communications Inc., a non-government organization in the Philippines and a subsidiary of the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), and DepEd Quezon signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) extending their partnership on the implementation of the Mobile KART [Knowledge Access and Resource Training] Project, March 20.
The Mobile KART is a classroom on wheels that aims to provide education and life skills to different groups of stakeholders, such as the out-of-school youth, underprivileged startup parents, unemployed, and digitally illiterate.
Fireball Inc. determined the following Alternative Learning System (ALS) modules to be taught using the Mobile KART. This includes Integrated Math for senior high school vocational modules, entrepreneurship livelihood modules, life skills modules, digital citizenship modules, and basic education modules.
As part of the partnership provisions, Fireball Inc. shall provide the following facilities: a) a Modified L300 Mitsubishi truck with modular tables and chairs for up to 20 learners; b) 17 units of laptops for learners; c) two units of up to 48-inch AORUS monitor screens, one on each side; d) two sets of wireless microphones and speakers, one on each side; and e) three solar panels with a daily stable supply of up to 1.3 kWh for up to 6 hour-consumption. The partner will also provide allowances for the ALS trainers, and ALS focal persons, including gas allowance, and a designated driver for the vehicle. Further, it will also take care of the training expenses during the pre-implementation period of the project training and evaluation.
SDO Quezon shall provide a list of potential stakeholder groups within the Schools Division, with 700 target learners. The SDO shall identify qualified ALS trainers to teach the learners and facilitate the use of ALS modules on a full-time basis for the duration covered in the MOU. Likewise, the names and contact details of the ALS focal persons and trainers will be provided to the benefactor to ensure proper communication on the ground as to the smooth operations of the project in the beneficiary communities.
This project is being supervised by Ms. Asuncion Ilao, Education Program Supervisor in charge of the ALS; and Dr. Lorena S. Walangsumbat, Chief Education Program Supervisor for Curriculum Implementation Division, under the guidance of the Top Management headed by Dr. Elias A. Alicaya Jr., OIC-Schools Division Superintendent.
