To continuously improve the implementation of the Senior High School Program and better prepare the Technical-Vocational Livelihood Teachers (TVL) for the upcoming School Year 2022-2023, the Schools Division of Quezon, through its Curriculum and Implementation Division (CID) Project GLOW (Getting the Learning Outcomes More Worthwhile) conducted a Seminar-Workshop on Project-Based Assessment for SHS-TVL Teachers.
The event was held at M.I. Sevilla’s Farm and Resort at Brgy. Domoit, Lucena City on August 9-10, 2022, as part of the CID- SDO Quezon’s initiative to address the great need on enhancing TVL teachers’ knowledge and skills on assessment specifically Project-Based Assessment having TVL an output-based Track.
It also aimed to come-up with a Compiled Project-Based Assessment Tools which is a project direction for innovative and life-long learning among Senior High School learners in Deped Quezon.
Dr. Lorena S. Walangsumbat, Curriculum Implementation Division Chief, acknowledged the efforts of the TVL-teacher participants both in online and in-person design for being a part of the great plan leading to the completion of the Compiled TVL Project-Based Assessment Tools.
She also inspired the teachers on the importance of the output for the training in strengthening the TVL curriculum implementation as well the effort of the Division in making quality instruction and learning consistently happen in the lesson processes.
Mr. Sherwin I Diala, Master Teacher II and Vice-President of the Senior High School Division Coordinators’ Organization (SHS D’ Co.), as introduced by Dr. Guadalupe C. De Jesus, SHS Division Coordinators’ Organization President, shared the Rationale of the Program to give directions and overview to the participants of the needed participation and target outputs.
Meanwhile, Dr. Juanito A. Merle, Education Program Supervisor for Senior High School, welcomed the participants and presented the Session 1 Lecture about the Review of the Salient Points of the Department Order No. 31, s.2020 that talks about Interim Guidelines for Assessment and Grading in the light of the Basic Education Learning Continuity Plan which served as a guide in the design of the Project-Based Assessment Tools.
Dr. Adelaido P. Pinawim, MT-II of San Francisco B. National High School shared inputs on the Session 2 about Designing a Project- Based Assessment Tool for SHS-TVL Learners. After which, Dr, Jensen Ryan T. Lim of Lopez National Comprehensive High School followed with Session 3 on Crafting a Project- Based Assessment Tool for Information Communication and Technology (ICT), Session 4 with Engr. Noel Q. Santelices of Ungos National High School Extension Llavac for Electrical Installation and Maintenance (EIM), Session 5 with Mrs. Reynilda O. Bebon, Department Head of Quezon National High School for Home Economics, Session 6 with Mr. John Glendon D. Adel of Paaralanng Sekundarya ng Lucban Integrated School(PSLIS) for Electronic products Assembly and Servicing (EPAS) and Session7 with Mr. Christopher V. Laceda of Huyon-uyon National High School for Organic Agriculture Production.
Designing Track-aligned ProjectBased Assessment Tools anchored on Project Plans for more realistic contexts for presentation, feedbacking and revision before the panel of reactors highlighted the workshop. The SHS Coordinators’ Organization Officers and other TVLassessors and experts in the fields served as panel of reactors on selected ProjectBased Assessment Outputs for Critiquing.
The conference marked its success as Dr. Merle, EPS in charge of the SHS Program, challenged the 90 teacher - attendees: 50 in-person and 40 online participants, to keep on making Project-Based Assessment a part of the TVL designs, in their search for creative solutions for better learning.
Dr. Merle also presented the organizers to the participants, namely: Dr. Guadalupe C. De Jesus, Sherwin I. Diala, Dr. Marilou D. Maas, Asela Loreen V. Demdam Alexis P. Iglora, Danilo B.
