Project UPGRADE intensifies Google Certification and Professional Development for Teachers in SDO Quezon

 With the aim of creating a pool of qualified trainers on the use of Google Workspace for Education Fundamentals, DepEd Quezon spearheaded Project UPGRADE: Google Certification and Professional Development for Teachers at M.I. Sevilla’s Resort and Hotel, Domoit, Lucena City on June 8-11, 2022. The activity is in response to OUA MEMO 00-0522-0079, issued by the Office of the Undersecretary for Administration (OUA), through the Information and Communication Technology Service-Educational Technology Unit (ICTS-EdTech), in collaboration with Google for Education. Focal persons from DepEd Central Office’ ICTS-EdTech Unit served as the training team composed of Mary Ann Manzano, representative from Google for Education, Micah Joy Mitra, EdTech Specialist, Rowena A. Reyes, Certification and Professional Development Team Leader, Virgilio O. Carolino. The training team shared ideas on their specific topics. Meanwhile, Abram Y.C Abanil, Director IV of ICTS CO; Mark Anthony C. Sy virtually delivered inspirational messages while Assistant Schools Division Superintendent Gregorio A. Co Jr graced the training’s opening ceremony highlighting the importance of integrating technology in hybrid teaching. “ICT is the thing in the future. Para maka-adapt tayo sa technological advancement in the future. We have to shape up para hindi tayo maiwanan”ASDS Co mentioned. Schools Division Superintendent Elias Alicaya, Jr. through Information and Communication Technology Unit under Sir Wilbert B. Porteza, Information Technology Officer I; and Learning Resource Management and Development Systems led by Ma’am Jee-Ann O. Borines, welcomed the training team. Around 200 ICT and LR coordinators from different districts in the Schools Division of Quezon attended this face-to-face training workshop that provided opportunity to equip them with new teaching tools in hybrid learning and help them improve their lesson plans by integrating various Google and EdTech apps in their everyday teaching. One of the major components of the training was briefing the test takers for possible certificate as Google Certified Educator Level 1 to be conferred to those who will pass the Google Examination. #
