Senior Education Program Specialist of the Bureau of Learning Delivery – Teaching and Learning Division (BLD-TLD0), Mr. Julieven R. Abrea conducted field monitoring on the implementation of limited face-to-face classes among three schools in DepEd Quezon: Binagbag Elementary School (Elem level), Elias Salvador National High School (Junior HS level), and Alabat Island National high School (Senior HS category) on May 26-27. The monitoring highlighted classroom observation and focus group discussion with select teachers of the said schools to note relevant data on teaching delivery issues, concerns, challenges, and best practices. The conduct of classroom observations and focus group discussion aimed to determine the teachers’ mechanisms on how they maximize interaction with learners and utilize strategies and techniques so that continuity of learning is achieved in home-based and classroom-based activities. SEPS Abrea also conducted Key Informant Interviews (KII) to gather information from the school heads: Mr. Joseph Hinanay (AINHS), Ms. Melba Gonzales (ESNHS), and Ms. Leonora Villacruel (BES) along with the education supervisors: EPS Walter Galarosa, EPS Dr. Juanito Merle, and EPS Abner Pureza. The KII with the school heads and supervisors focused on the forms of technical assistance that they have provided to teachers including the challenges and highlights of the expanded phase of limited face-to-face classes. SEPS Abrea also collected sample Weekly Learning Plan and Learning Progress Checklist from select teachers, as these documents may provide additional information on how teachers manage and monitor learning. “The data gathered are helpful inputs in crafting policy guidelines on our end in relation to teaching and learning delivery, SEPS Abrea explained. #
