To continuously improve the implementation of the Senior High School Program, the Schools Division of Quezon, through its CID Project BLAZE (Building Learners’ Authentic Zeal of Excellence) conducted a Division-wide Senior High School Students’ Conference and Exhibit of Best Capstone Projects and Innovative Outputs at MI Sevilla’s Farm and Resort at Brgy. Domoit, Lucena City, March 21- 22. The event is part of SDO Quezon’s earnest desire to address the issues and concerns confronting the Senior High School students as well as the Curriculum and Implementation Program in the division. It also aims to present quality capstone projects and innovative learning outputs accomplished by the Senior High School learners in Deped Quezon for benchmarking. Dr. Lorena S. Walangsumbat, Curriculum Implementation Division Chief, delivered the welcome remarks and acknowledged the role that teachers play in the curriculum implementation as well the effort of the Division in ensuring that the needs of senior high school are addressed well. She also stressed that the tablets are expected to have been delivered for students’ use in their daily learning tasks. Mr. Gregorio T. Mueco, Assistant Schools Division Superintendent, ASDS In-Charge of the CID shared an inspiring message to the students and teachers. He further added that it is one of the best opportunities to benchmark and share best practices after a few years of temporary school closure. Dr. Guadalupe C. De Jesus, Master Teacher II and President of the Senior High School Division Coordinators’ Organization (SHS D’ Co.), shared the Rationale of the event and then proceeded with the introduction of Dr. Juanito A. Merle, for the status of the SHS in DepEd – Quezon. Meanwhile, Dr. Juanito A. Merle, Education Program Supervisor/ Division Senior High School Focal Person, welcomed the participants and presented the Status of DepEd Quezon Senior High School (SHS) Program with actual data gathered from SHS schools together with the DepEd Orders and Memoranda relative to SHS implementation. As one of the highlights of the activity, learners were given the chance to voice out issues and concerns as well as suggestions and recommendations for the continuous improvement in the instruction in the Senior High School in all Congressional Districts of the Division. The SHS Coordinators’ Organization Officers through Dr. Marilou Maas, master Teacher II and SHS D’Co. treasurer, facilitated a virtual small-group sharing on learner-participants’ suggestions and recommendations in the Senior High School Curriculum Implementation and Programs. To formally address the collated issues and concerns of the Senior High School program in DepEd Quezon from learner-participants of both days, Mrs. Asela Loreen V. Demdam, Master Teacher I and Secretary of the SHS D’ Co., led the crafting of the conference resolution on the second day for attention or necessary actions as deemed appropriate by the higher authorities. A visual poster exhibit as well as virtual presentations of best capstone projects and researches made by SHS learners from different Senior High Schools in DepEd Quezon was also part of the highlights of the conference. The conference marked its success as Dr. Juanito A. Merle, Education Program Supervisor and Division in charge of the SHS Program, challenged the participants to carry on with the best practices, find most creative solutions to address the problems and exercise critical and creative thinking skills in all Senior High School undertakings. He also presented the technical working group to the participants, namely: Dr. Guadalupe C. De Jesus, Sherwin I. Diala, Dr. Marilou D. Maas, Alexis P. Iglora, Danilla B. Lavilla Jr., Joel B. Casungcad, Jensen Ryan Lim, and Ronald B. Palamiano. Dr. Guadalupe C.
