DepEd CALABARZON, together with the Schools Division of Quezon officials, marched down the entrance of Malinao Ibaba Elementary School (MIES) to assess its preparedness on the possible conduct of limited face-to-face classes. This is geared towards evaluating the school’s safety and security on the attempt of regaining the face-to-face learning modality for their learners. Moreover, it aimed to assure the health and safety of the school community, especially the children, against the possible infection of the COVID-19. DepEd Region IV-A validating team spearheaded by Dr. Andrea Maybelle Abrencillo, Education Program Supervisor of Field Technical Assistance Division, assisted by SDO Quezon officials, worked hand-in-hand to support MIES on improving its preparation. “We are actually here to give assistance to Malinao Ibaba Elementary School and not to find faulty and humiliate the school. So, there is nothing to worry and to be stressed about. Kalma lang tayo. We are all on these together,” Dr. Abrencillo stated before the validation commenced. “Tulong-tulong tayo. Kaya kami ay naririto ay upang tulungan ang mga paaralan na maging handa pa lalo sa gagawin nating face-to-face classes. After this, kayo naman ang bibisitahin ng ibang schools for benchmarking,” she added. Dr. Abrencillo scrutinized MIES’s pertinent documents, the requirements on the conduct of the limited face-to-face classes. These documents underwent evaluation and panel discussion along with the Atimonan District Supervisor, Mr. Carmelo Eusebio Altamira; and MIES Head Teacher I, Mrs. Angelica Alvarez. Meanwhile, Mr. Elino Garcia, Chief Education Program Supervisor of the Quality Assurance Division, together with Engr. Edilberto Dimopilis, Technical Assistant I, surveyed the vicinity of the school. Assisted by MIES DRRM Coordinator, Mrs. Roselle Lynn Nera, Mr. Garcia and Engr. Dimopilis steered the ocular inspection and checked its facilities and markings to attest that these are accorded with the physical requirements for limited face-to-face classes. The validators inspected the available handwashing area, clinic, isolation area, the markings of learners’ entrance and exits, and the availability of safety equipment, like thermal scanner, alcohol dispensers, foot baths, air purifiers, and tarpaulins of safety precautions. As the validation process ended, the regional validating team gave their words of encouragement and constructive criticism for the betterment of the MIES preparation to this exertion. “We are very thankful that DepEd regional validating team visited our school. Malaking tulong ang naibigay nila sa amin upang mas mapaghandaan ang face-to-face classes para sa mga bata,” Mrs. Alvarez exclaimed. “Their advice and words for betterment are duly noted. Muli naming pagtutulungan ng mga parents, teaching force, barangay, LGU, at private sectors upang maisagawa ang mga ito,” she added. The said regional validation is assisted by the Schools Division of Quezon officials as follows: Mrs. Elizabeth De Villa, Chief Education Program Supervisor of the SGOD; Dr. Joan Alejaida Mauhay, Education Program Supervisor of the CID; Mr. Gilbert Alva, Senior Education Program Specialist; Ms. Mary Joyce Salamat, EPS-II; and Mr. Dennis Fernando de Villa, Nurse II. A short program concluded the activity which included the messages from the regional validators. MIES preparation is with the cooperation of Local Government Unit of Atimonan, Malinao Ibaba Barangay Officials, MIES Teaching and Non-teaching personnel, parents, students, and private sectors as stakeholders. MIES will conduct re-orientation to parents and to stakeholders in March 7, and the pilot conduct of limited face-to-face classes will be in March 14. Edilbert L. Cadeliña, PhD Master Teacher I | Sapaan Elementary School | Atimonan
