In the 1st DepEd Open Educational Resources (OER) Contest supporting the United Nations Declaration of Paris 2012 to provide equal access to learning resources using ICT and equip basic education in the Philippines with technology-aided resources for blended learning modalities, Mr. Christian Ace Labides, school ICT coordinator of Biga Elementary School, Gumaca East District, received an award for winning the nationwide tilt of DepEd Central Office, March 01. Labides stood on the victorious spot because of his awe-inspiring creation of complete e-modules covering the Most Essential Learning Competencies (MELCs) as identified in the K to 12 Curriculum Guide using Kotobee and H5P software tool. The 501 winners of Kindergarten to Senior High School learning areas were trimmed down to four winners in key stage 2 (TLE 6), from which Labides emerged triumphant in the category of Home Economics. Mr. Mark Anthony Sy, Head of ICTS-EdTech Unit, conferred the award at the Office of the Schools Division Superintendent, through Dr. Lorena Walangsumbat, CID Chief and officer-in-charge of that day. Also present were Joy Salazar, Senior Technical Assistant III; Rowena Reyes and Aprellene Marquez, EdTech Specialists; Divina David, Project Development Officer III; and Juan Paolo Vico, Technical Assistant II. The Office of the Undersecretary for Administration (OUA) launched the 1st OER Contest through the Information and Communications Technology Service- Educational Technology (ICTS-EdTech) Unit last May 28, 2021.
