With its prime objective of ensuring the implementation of recommended programs, projects, and activities of the Student Government for School Year 2021-2022 as stipulated in DepEd Memorandum No. 55, s. 2021 and promotion of the DepEd Core Values in public schools, DepEd Quezon’s School Governance and Operations Division – Youth Formation Unit (SGOD-YFU) conducted its Online Supreme Government Teacher-Advisers’ Training Program (SG-TATP) and Presentation of Best Practices on the Four Core Values, February 24. Supreme Pupil Government (SPG) Teacher-Advisers in elementary level and Supreme Student Government (SSG) Teacher-Advisers in secondary level joined the virtual event. The training was graced by the resource speakers namely: Mr. Gilbert C. Alva, Senior Education Program Specialist for Planning and Reseach; Mr. Rommel C. Icaro, Teacher I of Dolores Macasaet National High School; Mr. Sammy F. Baysa, Teacher III of Quezon National High School; Mr. Vivencio Angelo U. Marquez, Jr., Master Teacher II of Gumaca National High School; Ms. Chit F. Aquino, Teacher III of San Narciso Central Elementary School; and Mr. Ginnuel Janzent G. Alcantara, Teacher I of Lutucan Central School. Ms. Leah A. Perez, Project Development Officer I, started the program with the rationale, objectives, legal bases and current activities of the Division for the Student Government Program (SGP). Mr. Alva explained the content and relevance of project proposal writing and also emphasized the difference between learning and development proposal and activity proposal. For the Maka-Diyos Core Value, Mr. Icaro delivered their best practices focused on the goals of bringing learners closer to God, enlightening them on the value of spiritual growth, serving as the source of encouragement and motivation, and utilizing social media platforms to advocate for moral values. For the Makatao Core Value, two best practices were presented. The highlights presented on this part was the use of online website by the Quezon National High School in delivering student services as elaborated by Mr. Baysa in this time of pandemic. Meanwhile, Mr. Marquez also shared their school-based practices in school spearheaded by the SSG officers in the New Normal. For the Makakalikasan Core Value, Ms. Aquino shared on the school practices enriching environmentalism, love and care for nature, healthy practices through planting and eating vegetables and developing self-responsibility among learners. For the Makabansa Core Value, Mr. Alcantara let the participants rekindle the culture and patriotism of Filipinos among the participants with their school-based celebration of United Nations and the practice of writing through our own native calligraphy, Baybayin. The conclusion of the event materializes the significant impact of empowering the SPG and SSG teacher-advisers in strengthening the implementation of various PPAs in schools and honing the future leaders of our community and the nation as a whole.
