With the challenges that confront the Department of Education (DepEd) in implementing the Basic Education Learning Continuity Plan (BE-LCP), the Schools Division of Quezon sought to address them through action researches presented on the third day of the Quezon Educators' Research Convention (QERC) 2021 held at the Quezon Convention Center with the participation of all teaching and non-teaching personnel from the Fourth Congressional District, December 29. With this year's theme "Research Initiatives in the New Normal: Relevant and Significant," OIC-Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Elias Alicaya Jr. who spearheaded the event through the provincial government’s support urged all teachers to be more relevant in addressing common difficulties encountered in the New Normal. At the event, Rejulios Villenes, Public Schools District Supervisor, presented his study “Empowering Learning Supervision in DepEd Lopez Districts: Transforming Experiences in Distance Learning Settings through Integrated and Remote Technical Assistance (IRTA)”. Villenes emphasized that the program mechanism of IRTA aims to provide seamless, integrated, microlearning, and multi-modes of Instructional Supervision (IS) and Technical Assistance (TA). Meanwhile, Rexter J. Anda, Principal II of Plaza Rizal ES, shared about the findings of his study “Project I-CARE: Research Capability Program to Improve the Conduct of Action Research by School Heads and Teachers in Gumaca West District.” In his speech, he emphasized that the study aimed to capacitate School Heads and teachers in conducting action research, and to increase the number of relevant and responsive research initiatives in the said district. Another study titled “Expanding Service Horizons through Decentralization: A Feasibility Study on the Establishment of Sub-Offices of the Schools Division of Quezon” was presented by Peter Andrew Regencia, Principal I of Pitogo Community High School. Along with this, Dr. Alicaya, co-author of said study, revealed that besides promoting ease of doing business by expediting the turnover of documents, Project DeVOLVES (Deconcentration of Vital Operations for Leveraging Volumes of Education Services) aims to accelerate the delivery of procured goods; ensure the health and safety of personnel; and lessen travel time, cost and associated risks, among others. “Ang Project DeVOLVES ay ating pangalagaan at mahalin,” Alicaya reiterated. Lastly, Raymar Francia, Master Teacher II of Cogorin Ibaba NHS presented his study “Curriculum Reblocks: Blocking the Challenges of Senior High School Students and Teachers in Teaching and Learning in Light of the Basic Education Learning.” Francia highlighted in his speech that in the implementation of Block Method in school, students have avoided encountering multiple complex from all SHS subjects in a single week considering the traditional curriculum design. He also said that teachers believed to provide immediate, individualized and more comprehensive intervention for a certain subject. Herbert D. Perez, OIC-Assistant Schools Division Superintendent, closed the morning activity to give way to the next part of the program facilitated by the provincial government through the generosity of Provincial Governor Danilo Suarez. In his message, Perez expressed his gratitude to the participants for their continued commitment to teaching in the face of the pandemic. “We are builders of our nation; ang bawat guro ay bayani,” Perez concluded.
