Undersecretary for Curriculum and Instruction Diosdado M. San Antonio led the live field update from Lopez Comprehensive National High School after the formal declaration of the opening of classes during the National School Day Opening Program 2021 on September 13, 2021 at Lopez, Quezon. The live update aired through DepEd Philippines official Facebook Page where teachers, learners, and the school community all over the country watched this significant event.
Usec. San Antonio also joined the Secretary’s Forum and press conference from Don Emilio Salumbides Elementary School through Zoom and FB live. Guided by the activity’s theme, “OBE 2021: Bayanihan para sa Ligtas na Balik Eskwela,” he, together with the executive committee of DepEd, answered all the questions about the Department’s agenda for school year 2021-2022.
When asked about his thought on distance learning by Dir. Nina Bianca Sanglay, who served as the moderator during the Secretary’s Forum, Usec.
Further, in the latter part of the press conference, Usec. San Antonio shared some best practices on distance learning. He noted several distinct practices of schools across the country which include the cross-integrated curriculum and assessment approaches. These practices were also shared with him by Lopez East and Lopez West Public Schools District Supervisor Mr. Rejulios M. Villenes as applied and practiced in both districts of Lopez.
Meanwhile, PSDS Villenes oversaw and graciously welcomed the visit of Usec. San Antonio.
Mrs. Josefina C. Ladines, Principal III of Don Emilio Salumbides Elementary School, was very hospitable of the arrival of Usec. San Antonio. She ensured that the natural setting of module distribution will run smoothly while parents visit the school, observing proper health protocols. Nilinis natin ang paligid and reminded the parents ng ating proseso ng pagkuha ng modules like last year. Nagkaisa tayo para sa success ng ating opening of classes,” she said.
Both the ICT Technical Teams of Lopez CNHS and DESES were well-prepared for the said activity and ensured the smooth and uninterrupted flow of the event. Mr. Hermogenes Wallen Olivarez, chair of DESES ICT Technical Team, has performed and attended three technical runs to guarantee the best performance of the group. Together with the chair of Lopez CNHS Technical Team, Mr. Jensen Ryan T. Lim and his colleagues prepared the best studio set-up for excellent video and audio qualities. Moreover, both technical teams prepared risk assessment plans and provided contingency measures to whatever possible problems that may occur.
At the end of his visit, Usec. San Antonio commended the efforts made by teachers and school managers in Lopez Districts saying, “Congratulations! I always say that I am a proud co-teacher. You have been able to come forward and demonstrate that no amount of challenge will defeat us. I am very proud to say that I belong to teachers who have demonstrated that there is always a way to make learning continue. Kaya maraming salamat!”
